Lookie What I Got...

Wednesday night was such a good night. I got home from the gym after an awesome 4 mile run and MrHoppy had dinner waiting. A healthy and delicious dinner which makes me so happy.

We were sitting at the table and I was rambling on about money, his upcoming boys trip to Chicago and how I feel like I'm not allowed to spend our money on anything for myself. I feel selfish doing it. I also feel like things he wants take priority over things I want. It wasn't a fight at all, just a calm and adult conversation.

Imagine my surprise when he went to the garage and came in and handed me a receipt. I thought it was the receipt from renting our snowshoes last weekend so I said I didn't want it. He said "yes you do"

He bought me the Burton board I found on sale last weekend. I spent all week researching it online, reading reviews and pretty much drooling over it. My current board is too big for me so I knew I needed a smaller one.

After some (very happy) tears, kisses and hugs I asked where my beloved board was? It was in the shop at REI being prepped and waxed.

I called (stalked) them yesterday to see when it would be ready. I was so excited when they told me we could pick it up after the gym! So... here it is! I LOVE it and can't wait to ride on Sunday. I have visions of myself flying down the slopes like a pro!

Sorry for the crappy picture, it was taken last night about 8PM with my iPhone. It's a 144 Burton Feather. They claim it's nearly impossible to catch an edge on this board. We'll see about that after Sunday! My brother in law is going to come over and put my current bindings on for me and I'll be all set!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thankful on Thursday

I haven't done one of these posts in awhile! Time to get back in the swing of things!

And I have to apologize. I'm so bummed I didn't get a shot of myself in my workout gear this morning for my first fitness post. I turned off my alarm this morning when it went off and fell back asleep so I was rushing around to be ready for work. I wasn't late but I also didn't get the picture. Tomorrow perhaps?

Anyway, back to the purpose of this post! Today I am thankful for the mountains. I have been enjoying them SO much this winter and it's a welcome change. MrHoppy and I were discussing how active we've been so far this year and how much we love it. We always spend time up there in the Summer but haven't taken advantage of the Winter sports as frequently until this year. I have only been snowboarding a handfull of times since graduating college and this year I'll get in at least 4 trips. Hell yeah! We'll be heading back up the hill this weekend and I'm so excited.

There is another reason I'm especially looking forward to this trip but I'll share that tomorrow. It's going to include a picture as well... Stay tuned!

The Last 2 Weeks!

We have been so incredibly busy and I'm excited to share what we have been up to! Aside from our normal routine of work, exercise and friends we've taken a couple mini trips to the mountains. I am so into utilizing all Colorado has to offer - even in the Winter.

2 weekends ago we had friends in town from Florida and we rode snowboards for 2 days in a row. Can I tell you it has been a long time since I've ridden 2 days in a row. By Sunday afternoon my legs were so tired! There was a lot of friends, beer, good food and  laughs. We had an excellent time and were so sad to see them go home.

Last Wednesday MrHoppy had his work Christmas party. They did it late this year, it's usually in January. Being in the restaurant industry they are just too busy to have their party during the actual holiday season. We stayed out late and needless to say Thursday at work drug on... and on... and on! I'm too old to go out during the week!

Just yesterday we were able to go snowshoeing for the very first time! A couple that we love to hang out with (who are also expecting their first baby in July!) invited us to go. It's their first season too so we were all beginners, just feeling it out. They knew the trails though which was very helpful. It was beautiful and it felt great to be out enjoying the quiet wilderness. It snowed lightly the entire day and aside from the wind the weather was gorgeous and perfect. We went up early to avoid the crowds and I was glad we did. When we came down the parking lot was overflowing!

It doesn't sound like much as I type but I feel like the last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind!

This week will be pretty normal which is fabulous. I need a week on track and on schedule. I really want to get a picture taken Thursday morning so I can blog about my workout progress. MrHoppy is home and up with me on Thursdays so I think that will be easiest. Did I blog about my sprained tendon last week? I was pretty much sidelined from running for the last week and a half. Super frustrating but I was happy to get back on the treadmill again tonight!

Enough jibber-jabber, let's get to some pictures!

Busy Bee

The last week and a half have been insanely busy for me. Hence the reason my blog has suffered. But things seem to be settling down so my attention is here again. I promise.

There has been snowboarding, friends in town, a (very) belated Christmas party, exhaustion from said events, friends over for an evening, cleaning, organizing, painting in the house, more exhaustion, more cleaning, snowshoeing for my first time and dinners spent with friends.

See why I've been tired? But tonight is the night. I'm downloading all our fun pictures and posting all about our last 2 weeks. I'm excited!

But, let me tell you what has been on my mind since Saturday night. We went to R.E.I to rent our snowshoes and look what I found and fell in absolute LOVE with: This gorgeous new Burton

On clearance none the less. But we don't have the money for a purchase like that right now. Believe me, I asked. More than once. Maybe more than 10 times...

TGIF!

I am so happy that it's Friday. We have a fun and eventful weekend coming up!

Our friends from Florida, the ones we visited in November (see that post here )are coming into town tonight. We're picking them up from the airport at 8:45 to start a fun filled weekend!

Tomorrow we'll be up at the crack of dawn (which I'm dreading, there will be drinks and catching up tonight, I know I'm going to be tired) to head up to Copper Mountain again for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Fighting the crazy mountain traffic I'm sure... Our great friends T and M are meeting us there as well. 3 very fun couples on the mountain - watch out!

Tomorrow night all 6 of us are staying in Silverthorne (where there will be more drinks and fun) together in one hotel suite. Should be interesting! And fun. Have I mentioned how much fun I'm expecting to have?!

Sunday we are hitting the slopes again. We're planning a full day since traffic coming down the hill is always a nightmare. We all have Monday off work so there is no rush to get home. Sadly M and R fly back home Monday. I know the weekend will go by quickly especially since this trip has been planned for months.

I plan to take lots of pictures that I'll share next week. TGIF everyone!

:::crickets:::

I have been horrible. Over a week since my last post I think? What is up with that?

I have been busy and I haven't used my down time to blog. But I will, I'm sad that my blog feels neglected. I know I don't have many followers but I really like to write and "talk" anyway. :) Plus I'm making a concious effort to include more photos in my blog because I think they really make it more interesting. And when you have been terrible about TAKING pictures it's kind of hard to add them.

Let's do a last-weekend-recap shall we?

Friday night we stayed home. MrHoppy got home from work late so we had a cocktail, caught up on Jersey Shore (don't judge!) and went to bed early.

Saturday was spent getting chores around the house done. We grocery shopped, organized, cleaned the house and then watched a movie. We had dinner with friends Saturday night and played Wii at their house.

Sunday we had brunch with the fam for my Grandma's birthday. Then we hung out at my sister's house for the game. I was glad the Packers won. I'm not a huge fan or anything but I hate the Steelers so I was happy.  There were 4 couples there that day and we had such a good time. O got to meet my friend K's daughter and they were so cute. She just started talking and her little voice just makes me smile. :)

Oh yeah, I also got a chandelier-type light fixture for our house! A sweet Craigslist find. It was listed in our city but that could mean anything. Turns out the lady lived right down the street! It's a gross brass color so I can't wait to spray paint it. I think I'm going to update our office soon and make it my pretty craft/sewing girly room and it will go in there. It will be a fun project that will include new paint, possibly some stenciling on the walls (!!) and of course the new fixture. I kind of want to find an old dresser or something to refinish and put in there too... I've been scouring the blog world looking for inspiration and have so many ideas running around in my head. It's going to be fun and I'll be sure to blog about it when I start!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Um how cute it this lil one? My new niece J and since we are so far away I don't get to show her off that often. This is a text picture so not the best quality but I love it! Can't wait to meet her!
