I feel my best when I'm eating mostly whole and unprocessed foods. We are so lucky to have lots of food shopping at our fingertips!

Last night we were out enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. We realized we didn't take anything out for dinner and MrHoppy was getting very grumpy and very hungry.

We pulled into Whole Foods to get something fresh and healthy. It's minutes from our house which is so nice! We needed a few things other items as well. People always say how expensive Whole Foods is - and it can be if you don't look for sales! We picked up 2 salmon burgers and a GIANT salad for dinner. I love that salad bar - seriously. We also grabbed a bunch of Clif Bars for his snacks and bananas. All for $20. Dinner for 2, I'm having leftovers for lunch today, snacks and produce? Not too shabby.

I have an exciting appointment in the works as well. Nothing work related - it's tattoo related. I think I found my artist so I'll share my idea and all the details on that very soon!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-11149774971579326892012-03-09T09:50:00.000-07:002012-03-09T09:50:52.850-07:00New DigsWe have been in our new/old house for a little over a month now. It's starting to feel like home. It took a few weeks to get unpacked and organized. We had to get creative as it's much less space than we are used to. That was the point though - downsize!

In the chaos of moving day I didn't take any photos. Not one. Who knows where my camera was and we were busy shoveling 2 feet of snow. I wish I had though, it was quite a mess.

I did snap a picture a few days before the move in. A nice, sunny, non-snowy afternoon! I met our landlord to get the keys and do the walk through. It's from my phone but you can see the size. That's most of our living space! The front door is at the end. There are lots of windows so we have tons on natural light. Off to the right is a small hallway with a bedroom at each end. The bathroom is right in the middle. The paint looks almost pink in this photo. It isn't, it's just kind of a beige color. I'm standing in the doorway that leads to the kitchen. Ooohhh the kitchen. Wait until I show pictures of that!

Our furniture fits great actually. I was worried about our king bed in our little bedroom but it fits. It's cozy... But we got it in there! In the first couple weeks I spent quite a bit of money on new things for the house. It's all hardwood upstairs so we needed rugs at both the front and back doors. The blinds are hideous so of course I needed curtains right away. I have slowed down quite a bit and will continue to decorate and add little touches as time goes on. My goal is to document here as much as possible. You can make a rental your own with a little bit of work and creativity. I'm trying to use what we already have but in different ways so it feels new.

Some of my plans include painting a tall bookshelf, painting the little bathroom, decor on the large wall over our couch, and accessorizing.

Luckily we have a full basement that is mostly finished for storage. It's interesting... to say the least. There is also and underground 1/2 garage under the kitchen. Also, very interesting. But we are making it our own! A couple we are very close with lives only 3 blocks away. We love our little neighborhood and I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can explore even more!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-52764721605799377162012-03-06T09:56:00.000-07:002012-03-06T09:56:59.540-07:00Changes to the BlogI know I want to change up the blog. My problem? I have too many ideas! I guess that's better than none...?

My problem is I don't know if I want to focus on just one thing to write about. There are so many things I'm interested in and so many activities we do. I don't want it to turn into a "working out" blog, or a "fashion and shopping" blog, or an "outdoors" blog.

I guess I'm interested in writing about lots of things. The whole "Lifestyle" blog thing is so common but really - it's kinda who I am. I definitely don't just focus on one thing in my life. I'm all over the place. See my list below for proof!

Here's what's new with me that I can see myself writing about:
- Training for my first 1/2 marathon - week 2 baby! My sister and I are doing it together
- Decorating a rental house - it's a project in the works
- Living in a little old house - built in 1924
- Travel - We'll be doing a little bit of travelling this year. With the hubby's new job it will be tough
- Snowboarding - I have a pass this season and am enjoying it so much
- Exploring our new neighborhood - we're in a super cool Denver neighborhood
- Trying out new restaurants/bars in said neighborhood
- Shopping! Did I mention we're minutes from Cherry Creek?
- Tattoo - I'm getting another one. A big one. It's exciting.
- Family - Because I love mine
- Eating right - it's been a struggle lately, I need to get back into my focus on health
- Photography - I so badly want to be good at it. But that would take effort, which I haven't put forth yet...

Not to mention all the Summer activities we do. Where do I start? Would anyone be interested in reading about my life in general? I don't know. Regardless this will always be a place for me to document my ideas and memories. I guess that's all that matters right?

I'll figure it out. It's been on my mind even if I haven't been as active here lately. I'm excited for a fresh start to the blog. I've come a long way since I started it. I feel like I'm almost a different person! In a good way.Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-29118185619441444072012-02-22T15:57:00.000-07:002012-02-22T15:57:13.071-07:00So, My Life is WAY Different NowWhew. My life has done a 180 in the last few weeks. And I really think it's ALL for the better. It's a great feeling to be honest.

We closed on our house with no problems the end of January. The day before we moved a blizzard hit Denver. Yep, we do have great timing! The move had to go on though, we had to hand over posession of a house that was no longer ours! It's really weird to think about that.

So bright and early (actually cloudy and snowy) one Saturday morning we picked up our GIANT moving truck. Good thing we went with the 24 footer. We have a lot of stuff and we even sold a lot of it before the move! We had all the boxes and small items already in the 3rd car garage to be moved directly into the truck. Last minute items and big furniture was all that was left in the house. It went smoothly.

By 11 we were done loading. My Mom offered to stay behind and help me clean. The house felt so big and so empty. I didn't feel one twinge of sadness though. I even told my Mom "I feel like I should be sad, maybe I should try to cry?"

But a new adventure awaits! We pulled away from the house for the last time. I drove to the new house where even more friends and family were there helping us unload. After they shoveled 2 feet of snow out of our driveway the move-in was ON! We got it done so quickly and it went really well.

We are adjusting to our new digs. Moving from a 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 3 car garage house built in 2003 to a TINY 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a 1/2 car garage built in 1924 has been crazy. I will update more later, hopefully with pictures and details on the new place.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the ol' blog. I'm really not an IF girl anymore. Well I am, but I don't feel like one. I feel more like a childless couple excited to live our life and take on lots of adventures! It's so weird but I'm in such a good place in regard to that. I'm honestly happy. Maybe I could turn it into our adventure blog - in Colorado, travels, friends, family... I'll have to think about it. I know I haven't written much in the last 6 months so if anyone is still reading let me know what you think!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-82694559711612895672012-01-16T16:59:00.000-07:002012-01-16T16:59:28.191-07:00Hurry up and WaitI feel like this is the month for waiting. We got our offer on the 2nd which feels like an eternity ago! The inspection was done last Monday, the 9th.

The buyers were to communicate anything they wanted us to do from the inspection no later than Thursday. We didn't hear a peep. Our realtor assumed that means everything went very well with the inspection. I'm going with her on this, for now.

They turned around and scheduled the appraisal right away. It was completed last Thursday, the 12th. We know everything is tight in this market. Our buyers have an FHA loan which means the appraisal has to come back at the purchase price or above. Our realtor asked him to give her a heads up if we had any issues with value. We didn't hear a peep.

I was a nervous ball of stress last week. I was so glad to get those 2 pieces banged out quickly. So...

Last week I was so excited. We didn't hear anything negative so our realtor assumed all was well. But as the weekend went on I started to worry. Here I go worrying again. Why didn't we hear ANYTHING? So I emailed our realtor this morning to make sure everything was OK. She said that she assumes no news is good news. But she did try to contact the other realtor and appraiser today, just to make sure. I haven't heard anything back yet.

So, I hurry up and wait!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-63488810570951334362012-01-09T12:09:00.000-07:002012-01-09T12:09:17.988-07:00Stress - For Real!I have been holding out. I didn't want to jinx anything. And I still don't but I need to write about what's going on in the Hoppy house!

We.Sold.Our.House! After being on the market for 14 days! To say we are excited is an understatement. I was so nervous to try and didn't have high hopes. But over the holiday weekends we were pleasantly surprised by the number and showings. And the GREAT feedback.

I am so thankful that the showing process went quickly. What a pain is the butt. 2 weekends in a row we were out of town. And both Sundays we ended up displaced with a car full of stuff, 2 dogs and 2 very tired people. It was worth it!

Don't get me wrong. This could all go South. We have the inspection tonight and I'm waiting to find out when the appraisal will be. We accepted a full asking price offer so we need the appraisal to go well!

Closing is estimated for the 31st. So... We are desperately trying to find somewhere to live. In Denver. With 3 pets. That is affordable yet in a great neighborhood. To say I am stressed is an understatement. I never expected this to all go so quickly! I'm not prepared.

But we are very, very excited. I feel like 2012 is starting off the right way. New beginnings!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-26739979240425828602011-12-21T12:50:00.000-07:002011-12-21T12:50:06.850-07:00Baby L!We had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new niece for what feels like years! You all probably remember that my sister and I are very close. So her children feel as close to mine as they could. :) I love them so much. Since we have a little boy we were all very excited to have a little girl to spoil! And she has my middle name... My sister is the BEST.

My sister's due date was the 16th. We all joked (and hoped) that L would come early. She did! This is going to get long but I want to write it all out so I don't forget. It was so exciting and amazing.

The afternoon of the 14th my sister texted that she was having a few contractions. Nothing to time but they were painful. By 5PM she said I should be ready because they were timing them now. I was ready! I drove home from work absolutely giddy. My parents trekked out to their house to pick up O. My sister wanted to labor at home for as long as possible. The plan was for me to be in the delivery room (again) so I needed to be ready do go. About 8:30 she said the contractions were further apart. So I got ready for bed with MrHoppy and watched some TV.

By 10 my brother in law had called and things had changed drastically. They were speeding to the hospital and I was out the door in 10 minutes to follow! We walked into her room which was eerily quiet. She was laying on the bed with her eyes closed. I should mention that my sister goes all natural. Not even Tylenol. So she was in the "zone".

I found out later that her water had broken as soon as they walked into the room. She felt like she couldn't do it anymore. I also found out that this probably means she was in transition. So we settled outside her room. A nurse went in for a minute and promplty ran out.

"She is a 10, she's ready to push, we need a Dr in here right away!!"

She also said "she wants her sister!". Best words. Ever. So I walked in and a nurse pulled me aside right away. They didn't even know her name yet, she wasn't checked in officially!! I gave them the information and went to the bed where the pushing had already started. I think it took 4 pushes and L was here! She was beautiful, perfect and we all fell in love instantly. My sister is amazing!

I went home about 2AM after getting to experience everything with them. My sister is the most amazingly giving person to let me stay for her first bath, weighing her, shots, etc. It was so much fun! Her official birth date was 12/14 at 11:26PM. She was almost born in the car on the way - it's no lie that the 2nd babies come MUCH faster!

In the morning we received bad news. L was in the NICU with low oxygen and what they thought was an infection of some sort. My sister and her husband were devestated. The perfect family bonding time wasn't going to happen. Instead L was hooked up to machines in another portion of the hospital. I arrived with snacks, movies, magazines and some outfits for L that I had picked up before I found out she was in the NICU. We were all SO worried.

Blood tests confirmed she had an infection, a pretty bad one. We still don't know what it was. She was on oxygen and IV antibiotics. We hoped she would get well quickly.

Finally on Sunday afternoon L was released. She is home, safe and sound. And most importantly - HEALTHY! We are doing our family Christmas celebration tomorrow night and I can't wait to love her up.

So that's my newest niece's birth story. Pretty amazing that they let me be a part of it with both their children. Thank you sissy!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-65401796084335419832011-12-20T09:31:00.000-07:002011-12-20T09:31:54.442-07:00Our House is Officially for Sale!As of Sunday the 18th our house is officially for sale. It is staged, the photographer finished the photos Friday and the websites are up and running. The sign is in the yard but we are still waiting for the brochures to be completed.

I'm excited to say that we already had one showing! Our realtor warned us that the next 2 weeks will be hit or miss with the holidays so I was just happy to have had a showing. We'll see what kind of feedback they have for us. There is another couple interested in looking this week so I hope that works out too. It's kind of weird to come home knowing that strangers were walking through our house though. I guess I'll get used to it!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much - I want it to sell quickly but I know it's a tough market and we just need to find the "right" family.

In other much more exciting news - I'm an Auntie again! My niece was born last Wednesday the 14th and in our family's fashion it was not without drama! I'll post all about her first 6 days of life tomorrow.

Happy Christmas week everyone! I hope you all have fun plans with friends and family!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-27435687701358409122011-12-14T12:23:00.000-07:002011-12-14T12:23:26.530-07:00Oh, hi.I've pretty much not been blogging regularly since mid-Summer. No excuses really, just really busy. I guess that's my excuse? I haven't been editing photos, working out as much or doing much of anything. Where is the time going? Not working out as much is really annoying but you'll see why here in a minute...

The big news is that we decided recently to list our home! We'll see if it sells. I'm trying not to get too excited. We are in love with the realtor we found. She helped my in-laws find their home when they moved to Colorado. She is very motivated, has excellent ideas and has held our hands through every step thus far.

Our plan if our home sells is to move from the 'burbs back into the city! We'll rent for a year or two while we save money for a down payment on a new home. We want to figure out our favorite neighborhood in Denver and move there!

So in preperation...

Sunday we deep cleaned our house. Wow, that took some time. It doesn't get done often and lemme tell ya - it needed it! It felt awesome to get it all done. Baseboards, touching up paint, cleaning all the blinds, etc. You know the cleaning I'm talking about! No fun!

Last night we met with a stager. It was so interesting the way she used things we already had in new ways. There was a lot of moving pictures, packing up items and arranging furniture. It was actually pretty fun and I'm amazed at what little changes she made and how they make such a big difference. I was excited that she commented several times on what a good eye I have and how she thought our house was so pretty.

After she left we started on the laundry list of other things that needed to be completed. We are pretty much packing up anything we don't use regularly. Personal photos are gone, the pantry is organized and clean, and there are many holes to be filled in and paint touch ups to be done on our walls! It will be a busy few evenings to say the least. See why I can't get to the gym the last few weeks?

A photographer is coming on Friday morning to take photos for the websites, brochures and folders that will be available on our table to anyone who looks at our house. I feel prepared. And I feel like I'm just going to hurry up and wait! Waiting to see if it sells, if the appraisal works out, what we find in the way of renting a home in Denver. I tend to be anxious about this type of thing so I'm trying really hard to go with the flow. I'd be lying if I said I slept well last night though!

We hope to have it listed by Saturday. I have a good feeling about listing it quickly, even though it's right around the holidays. A lot of people take their homes off the market this time of year. But people are still looking to buy and need to move! I hope this works in our benefit. We shall see. And I will be better about blogging.

Not sure if anyone is reading anymore - I don't blame you if you aren't! I need to decide what to do with the ol' blog. I don't feel like an infertile anymore. I would venture to say we feel like a happy couple without kids. I can't believe I'm here - but I am. And I'm happy. :)Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-78169020350614310972011-11-02T13:49:00.000-06:002011-11-02T13:49:21.354-06:00Hard Night AheadTonight at 5PM we'll be saying our final goodbyes to Meghan Joule. I'm anxious. I have been to funerals but never for someone my age. Someone who had their life cut too short by a horrible disease. Someone who only got to spend ONE year with her 3 gorgeous babies.

I can't believe it's been a week. Keep the thoughts and prayers coming. They will be much needed tonight.Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-87252755079186157392011-10-31T11:08:00.000-06:002011-10-31T11:08:28.819-06:00Gone Too SoonI haven't had much to say here lately. It's not a bad thing necessarily - I am just feeling quiet.

Last week was hard. A friend of mine lost her 5 year battle with cancer. Meghan left behind her husband and 1 year old triplets. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Life is so unfair sometimes.

We started a donation fund for her (via The Bump) and I'm so shocked by the outpouring of support for Meghan's family. She touched a lot of lives in her short time here. Her blog is on my reading list. She also has a Caring Bridge website. Thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated for her family during this time.
Wednesday is going to be a tough day. :(

Her Caring Bridge website. Her husband has updated http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/meghanjoule

Her personal blog. I know many of our bump friends already follow. http://mbjmaybebaby.blogspot.com/Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-29073458210464028632011-10-12T10:41:00.000-06:002011-10-12T10:41:00.114-06:00UpdatesMrHoppy commented last night about how little I have been blogging. And I agreed - I just don't know what to say! Or I guess I don't have much to say?

Maybe an update post of sorts is where I should start. Perhaps that will get the blogging juices flowing again!
On the Pet-Front: we are dealing with an injured Pekingese. A few years ago his left eye was badly scratched and it took months to heal. He has a similar scratch now on his right eye. Poor little man. It was missed initially by the vet (I won't get into details, just know that I was PISSED) so it went untreated for almost 2 weeks. We are now taking good care of him and hoping it heals nicely. The options if it doesn't aren't great, I'm not even thinking about what would come next. Just thinking positive! It's day to day but he is feeling better so that is good news.

On the Money-Front: This year has been tough. such is the story right now with everyone right? I received a raise in January but then in July MrHoppy started a new job that pays less. For now anyway. Our health insurance costs went up by about double (awesome!) so our out of pocket expenses have been rough. The good news is that both cars are now paid off! We are saving this month to build a really good emergency fund. Next month we will start putting ALL our extra money toward a little bit of debt that we racked up this year. It should take about 7 months to pay off. Sounds like a long time but I hope it flies by!

On the Home-Front: We have been toying with the option of refinancing our current mortgage to take advantage of the low interest rates. After tossing around a bunch of ideas we decided to start the process of looking into SELLING OUR HOUSE! We are so excited. It just didn't make sense to refi when we ultimately want to move. Our first step will be to contact a realtor to see if it's even a possibility in this market. I'll keep you updated on what we decide, it's a very new development and we haven't done much of anything yet. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

On the Exercise/Health-Front: Things are going really well. I'm working out a lot and we have been eating very healthy. Part of this is due to our food budget - we don't eat out much anymore! MrHoppy is in class twice a week until May so I have been getting in extra workouts. Bonus!

I think that sums up what is new in our world. Not much, nothing too exciting. I do have a lot of photos I need to share. I just haven't taken the time to download and organize. I haven't been ordering prints like I should either. The website has been SO SLOW so I get frustrated when I use it and give up.

I'm happy Fall is finally here! It still feels pretty much like Summer here in CO though which is annoying. Bring on the chilly weather! I'm ready to break out the snowboard!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-425792370281207422011-09-28T14:47:00.000-06:002011-09-28T14:47:08.826-06:00Birthday FunSeptember is one of my favorite months for several reasons. Beautiful weather as Summer fades into Fall, the leaves are changing, and most of all my birthday!

I have always loved my birthday. Not because of presents (while those do help!), but because it's an excuse to see friends and family, have a party, take a day off work and MrHoppy is especially sweet the week of my birthday. Which I love!

I wasn't expecting much this year. We're running a tight ship budget-wise but still planned to have a gathering at our house with our best friends.

I was surprised that I was so spoiled this year! I'll tell you all about the weekend and the awesome gifts I received. One great thing about a Fall birthday is new clothes!

Friday night we had dinner with my in-laws. She made an awesome Mexican (my favorite!) feast so we ate until we could barely move. And I was SOOO excited when I opened their gift, something I have been lusting after for over a year! Love it!

Saturday we slept in a little bit and cleaned the house after breakfast. Must have a clean house to entertain our friends!
Then we headed out after a shower to use my free birthday appetizer coupon at Rock Bottom. It had been a long time since we were there and it was fun. We had a beer with our appetizer of course.
We stopped in at Pac Sun next door and I found a cute casual striped top and a grey bag on sale. MrHoppy bought them both for me. The top is different than anything I own. It has a twist/knot thing in the back which is a little pop of sexy. I wore a black bra under it for some color Saturday night.

After a stop at the liquor store and Target we headed home. I was SOOOO excited when the garage door opened to reveal another surprise! MrHoppy bought me this little cruiser I have been wanting for awhile now. I rode it around all night! It is so cute and fun. We want to do a little bar crawl downtown before the weather gets too cold on our bikes. If we make it I promise to take pictures!

Cutie bike!

The party Saturday ended up being so much fun. Friends stopped by throughout the night to celebrate with us. We set up beer pong in the garage and it ended up being a hit! I know, sometimes we act like we are still in college. Why not?

In all honesty we spent most of Sunday relaxing. Some of us over-did it Saturday night. :) Then the accident happened. We were cleaning up the garage and decided to put away all our camping gear. MrHoppy was pushing things up onto the shelf he built above our garage. I was walking around picking things up and handing them to him when a big bucket FULL of stuff fell down directly onto my head. It knocked me right out. Cold. I came to lying on the garage floor and just started crying. It was a combination on confusion, being scared and damn, it hurt! I can't remember the last time I cried like that. As if my hangover headache wasn't bad enough. He felt so terrible and spent the afternoon taking care of me. I was fine, I had a knot for about a week but it wasn't too big of a deal. Kind of ruined our afternoon though.

We met my sister, BIL, nephew and parents for dinner that night. It was so much fun even if our server was super annoying. I swear, having been in the industry for so long I think I'm tested with bad service often. Or do I notice more because I know how it should go? Regardless, it was a very fun night with my family.

I took Monday off work and my sister and I took O to the zoo. It was a fun and beautiful day! MrHoppy was disappointed he had to work. After work he had class until 8:30. So my Mom and I met at the mall where I spent most of my birthday money! I LOVE shopping. I bought things I don't normally splurge on which was fun. I was most excited about this: The Urban Decay Naked Palette! I've been waiting for this for awhile now! I love it!

I also brought home 2 pairs of skinny jeans (black and grey), leg warmers (yes, I'm doing it!), a navy v-neck sweater, a scarf, and a pair of earrings. Most everything was bought at Forever 21. I'm not hard on clothes at all so when I want to stretch my dollar I take the time to shop there. It can be frustrating to find the right sizes for an adult body but worth it if you have the time. I wanted a few more things but ran out of money!

Lastly my Mom and I went to Nordstrom's for a professional bra fitting. I heard they do the best job and I wasn't disappointed. The woman who helped me was very professional and knowledgeable. She helped me find 2 perfect bras. The first is a convertable (regular straps, halter, racer back, strapless) nude bra. I have never worn a strapless like this one. NEVER. It's amazing. The 2nd was on sale and is awesome as well. Both were pricey but SO worth the money. I was wearing the wrong size as they say MOST women are... I was measured at Victoria's Secret and have been buying the wrong size since. I must say - I'll never buy bras there again. The quality, selection and knowledge of my new bra lady can't be beat!

Let me know if you want the details on the bras. I can check at home and let you know. They are amazing, I highly recommend! The bras I was wearing were too large around and too small in the cup. Who knew?

So that was my birthday weekend. Busy, fun and I was spoiled rotten. I can't believe September is almost over...Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-56058714126309663542011-09-21T10:00:00.000-06:002011-09-21T10:00:18.769-06:00Road Trip!We have a close friend who graduated with his doctorate last month so 5 of us road tripped it to Nebraska for his graduation weekend. 5 adults in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We made it work. :) It was a W-I-L-D weekend! These boys all grew up together so when they all get together - watch out! It was a blast. C arranged a "Tournament of Champions" that included Texas Hold 'Em, Bowling, and Putt Putt Mini Golf. I didn't place well overall but I DID take 2nd in the poker tournament. 2nd to MrHoppy who took first! This was the best event to win as we walked away with some cash. :)
Between MrHoppy taking classes now that school has started, me going to the gym as much as possible and work - I feel like we barely have a chance to sit down and catch up, much less blog! But I promise, I'll be better and I have lots of fun photos to share!

We had a great 3 day weekend celebrating Labor Day. And what did we do? What else? Camping! This was a fun trip though, we went with my brother in law's family. They own land in a beautiful place here in CO and we love going up there. It's so peaceful and gorgeous. I got lots of quality time with MrHoppy, my sister and of course my nephew. He's growing up so fast!

It was a weekend of family, fun, horseshoes, grilling and of course, BEER!
Hats off to people that photograph kids - How do you get them to look at the camera?! What a cute family. It was gorgeous weather, chilly at night but warm during the day. This was dusk and we were still only wearing hoodies.
A very loved little boy. Did I mention that I think he understands there's going to be a new baby? He calls her "sis" and kisses his mama's belly. Such a sweet boy!
This was a creepy situation. K's Mom found this pile of rocks, sticks and shoes. There were TONS of shoes all arranged inside the sticks and rocks. OLD shoes. We were all super creeped out, I think it was actually set up on their land! You can imagine the stories we came up with about the set up. Blair Witch Project anyone??
The battery on our point and shoot was dead, dead, dead. Hence no photos after dusk. We put the DSLR away when the sun went down. It would be NO fun to have a broken camera!

I was sad it was the last camping trip of the year. But, I'm loving the Fall weather that has finally arrived in CO. This weekend is my birthday so we're having dinner with the in-laws tonight, a night with friends tomorrow and dinner with my family Sunday. I have Monday off, hooray for 3 day weekends! I'm looking forward to some shopping with my Mom!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-69112844939563524822011-09-09T15:43:00.000-06:002011-09-09T15:43:55.238-06:00Random Updates from a BAD BloggerWhere did August go? Where did 9 days of September go? My life has been so busy and chaotic!

I have loads of pictures for posts and just need to make the time to write them!

Work is crazy but good. Really good. Exciting. :)

Life is busy but good. MrHoppy is doing so well in his new job. Classes start next week which will be challenging but we'll make it work. (I sound like Tim Gunn!)

Working out is good. I'm doing it, I'm making the time.

Eating has been total crap. I'm working on improving that. I WILL do it.

My birthday is in a week. I love my birthday but funds are tight this year. We'll do something fun on the cheap!

If you are still reading my blog - thank you. I promise I'll be better and way more entertaining. There's a lot going on, I just need to make time to share it!

TGIF Everyone!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-59043859278989569252011-08-30T13:28:00.000-06:002011-08-30T13:28:10.433-06:00The Black CloudOK, for the last 3 days MrHoppy has had a black cloud over his head. I'm ready for the skies to part and for sun to shine down on him! His black cloud is bringing me down too folks...

Last Thursday he was SO excited - his new iPhone finally came in! We spent the evening getting it set up, updating his aps and inputting his information. It was quite an upgrade from the phone he had with his previous carrier. We are such Apple people.

Then on Sunday he went dirt biking with his cousin. Do you see where this is going? T's bike wouldn't start to MrHoppy went back to get pliers. Fast forward to a wreck on the dirt bike. His phone and the pliers were in his camelback together. Guess whose screen was smashed by the pliers? 2 whole days of using his new phone and it's ruined. We're trying to check on getting it replaced but it's not looking good. $199 is where we're at right now. And that's $199 we don't have after purchasing the phone just last week...

He was so sad. I was sad for him. He just can't keep anything nice!

Yesterday he had a REALLY rough day. I guess it was just annoying in general anyway. And got worse when a can of black spray paint exploded on him. Yes, you read that correctly. A can of BLACK spray paint exploded on him at work! To top that off he drove home dirty and with traffic his commute took twice as long. He opens the door, finally home to a disgusting stench of poop. Dog poop. Poop from a very sick dog...

I have photos of this explosion but I'll spare you. Our Ridgeback got a case of explosive diarrhea in her kennel. It was everywhere. Everywhere. All over her, the wall, the kennel, the dresser, the carpet, her bedding. Poor baby, who knows how long she sat in her own filth while we were at work. It was the straw that broke the camel's (his) back. Poor guy was still cleaning when I got home. Covered in spray paint of course.

B was outside shivering - he had given her a bath with the hose and she was miserable. And had been sick 4 more times in the back yard. I have her an anti-diarrheal and that was the end of the explosions but she still isn't feeling well today. We're not sure what upset her tummy - she rarely gets sick. But she's holding down water, eating cottage cheese and doesn't seem to be in pain. I was so glad we weren't up all night with her.

I hate when our babies are sick, they are so helpless and can't tell us what is wrong. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well today while we're at work. My sister is going to try to check on her too. And I hope this is the end of MrHoppy's little unlucky streak. If it's not - this is going to be one LONG week! I also hope the spray paint comes off his neck and head sometime soon... He looks pretty silly right now!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-51495647770866245692011-08-24T15:24:00.000-06:002011-08-24T15:24:31.268-06:00Summer ConcertMrHoppy and I are lucky enough to still have friends in the town we attended college. So we have an excuse to sneak up there for a night out every once in awhile. Some of our friends have connections in said small town so this year we were able to get free Bunk House passes for the Clint Black concert. Woo Hoo. The Bunk House includes free booze and food so you can imagine how fun our night turned out. ;)

Am I a huge fan of country music? No. Am I a big Clint Black fan? Nope. Did I pay attention to the concert? Not really. We were too busy socializing and catching up with friends we don't see often! But we did have a really fun night and I'm glad we went. Who doesn't love an outdoor concert in the Summer?
K & K nearing the end of the night. It was a fun one!

I really love Summer. But I'm always ready for the season changes we get here in Colorado. We're nearing my favorite time of year - Fall! It's sooooo beautiful here in the Fall, I can't wait. I'm dreaming of football, chili, pumpkin beer and crisp mornings!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-7664990432620814142011-08-22T20:48:00.000-06:002011-08-22T20:48:44.854-06:00Camp ColoradoWe have been doing A LOT of camping this Summer. So much so that I'm rarely home on weekends. MrHoppy and I are lucky that we enjoy so many of the same pasttimes, especially when it comes to the outdoors. We both love to camp and we make it a priority in the Summer.

I think I posted last year about MrHoppy's family and their annual Family Campout. We did it again a few weeks ago and had such a great time. We left for our usual spot near Grand Lake right after work Thursday evening and stayed until Sunday morning. It was family time full of beautiful sights, sunsets, dirt bikes, hikes, beer, camp fires, and my favorite animals: Moose!
We have been staying cool by hitting the pool as often as we can. O loves the pool and I love being able to spend that time with my sister, brother-in-law and MrHoppy.

Our town has a new pool this Summer. One part has a crazy-play-town-contraption thing. There are 2 big slides and a lazy river. The fun part of the lazy river is that there are waves in one portion of it. It's so much fun watching O ride on the tube with his Daddy and go over the waves. He loves it!

On the downside, I have now been burned TWICE this Summer. Stupid - I haven't ever burned my stomach before but I guess I need sunscreen on it from now on!

Work is still busy which is a positive. We have been so busy at home which is both positive and negative. I'm not really sure what we have been doing outside of our normal activities but I can't seem to get anything NEW done! Week was kind of blah fitness/eating-wise but I'll lay it out there. Because life gets in the way sometimes. 2 weeks in a row sometimes...

Fitness: I did work out 5 times this week. Thank goodness because good ol' AF arrived last weekend and I was a bloated and miserable mess! Midol and exercise were my friend and I was still a bloated mess! Possibly due to all the salty food I was craving? Working out seriously keeps me sane so I don't know how my week would have gone without it! It felt really good to be back at the gym after my hectic schedule the week before. It's amazing how fast I feel a difference when I'm not lifting. A week without it and I'm completely weak-sauce!

Nutrition: FAIL. I don't know how or why it happened this week. I had a few stressful days (insane traffic, things not going my way, etc) and it seemed every night when I got home MrHoppy and I looked at each other and wondered why we hadn't planned dinner yet. Fail. We did OK all things considered but the universe was not on our side. After cleaning the house top to bottom Wednesday night we cooked the chicken we had thawed. It was the 2nd part of a package, and after we took our first bites we remembered the first part... So gross. Disgusting. I don't know what was wrong with it but it went in the trash. So at 8:30 2 very hungry Hoppys ate tortillas for dinner. Our week went that way pretty much from Monday on... Curses!

Weight: 119 - I think that's the same, or more, than last week. Eh, I'm not too worried. Between not eating the best and being on my period that's not too shabby. It's only a number anyway! Right?

And let me just say, I am so ready for the weekend. We have fun plans that I'll write about next week. It's much needed let me tell ya! TGIF!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-16074722255044265562011-08-03T14:01:00.000-06:002011-08-03T14:01:56.469-06:00It's A...I forgot to write about our family's good news last week!

My sister was sure they were having another boy. The heart rate was on the low end which sometimes indicates a boy. One of her doctors even said that was his guess and to tell him if he was wrong.

Well... Last Monday he was proved wrong!

I was so excited when I saw her pull into my parking lot at work. I knew she was done with the ultrasound but she was torturing me with random texts all the way to my office. :)

My BIL got out of the car and held up 3 fingers. I knew what it meant immediately! We had talked a lot about what they look for to confirm a girl and the "3 lines" were there! We got to look at the pictures on my computer right away. It was a really exciting afternoon. They are so happy and I am so excited for them (and us!).

I am so looking forward to having another niece. J is so far away and I miss seeing her grow and change. This new babe - being close - will be very spoiled by her Auntie! Let the girl shopping begin!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-63315830209132854932011-08-02T15:08:00.000-06:002011-08-02T15:08:36.755-06:00Some MrHoppy FunniesNobody likes to have fun more than my husband. Seriously, this man loves a good time. If there is fun in a 50 mile radius - he will find it. It's something that drew me to him and something that I absolutely love about him.

Sometimes, along with having fun comes planning. And preparing. And since we are fortunate enough to have lots of great friends and family around us it usually involves a few (or 10) couples.

Funny #1: MrHoppy thinks he is laid back. This is one of the funniest things he has said to a group of people who know him. We all burst out laughing. I'm actually chuckling as I type this.

Which brings us to...

Funny #2: MrHoppy is far from laid back. He stresses out and stresses everyone out around him when he gets in a mood. His Dad calls it a "moment". This usually happens when we're planning something a little bit complicated. The plan is all set and we're ready to roll. He inevitably tries to change the plans at the last minute. Every.Time. We all just wait for him to come up with a bigger, better (and WAY more complicated) solution to the plans that have already been made. And then we laugh when he does it. And smoke comes out of his ears...

And then comes...

Funny #3: MrHoppy thinks he isn't picky when it comes to what we eat. He goes as far as to tell me I have to decide. Whoa, putting such a big decision in your wife's hands?? (Sidenote: I hate making food decisions, I'm happy for someone else to pick and I'm good to go).
Take a night recently for example. We were going to get dinner out and he told me on my way home from work to pick the place. I wasn't thrilled, but agreed. I got home and said my ONE stipulation was that they have a patio, I was in the mood to be outside. I then listed 3 places that have outdoor patios. He didn't want to go to ONE of them. He even said "I was thinking maybe Chili's".
Really?? Why did you talk me into deciding if you were going to shoot down all my suggestions and you already had somewhere in mind? I admit that I got upset for a little while. It was so annoying. But guess where we went? You guessed it. Chili's. Chili's doesn't have a patio people...
Tonight? I have hamburger thawed and peppers ready to go for stuffed peppers for dinner. Guess who doesn't want them? I'll give you ONE guess... And it's not me...

Funny #4: MrHoppy hates to be told to do ANYTHING. If I tell him we should clean Thursday he will argue and pout and declare that he will NOT be told when he is cleaning. Personally, I like to clean Thursdays because we go into the weekend with a clean house and don't have to worry about another chore on the weekend.
I've gotten wise to his ways. I ask him what night HE wants to clean and guess what his answer is? Thursday. Because he likes to start the weekend with a clean house and get that chore out of the way. Isn't this getting exhausting?

Funny #5: He is always starts "pissing contests" with me. And now I, in turn, have started doing it to him! If I say I have done something he says "well I did this", to which I answer "well I did This!", to which he answers "WELL I DID THIS!!!". Seriously, it's a problem. Here's a typical example.
-MrsHoppy: I emptied the dishwasher.
-MrHoppy: Yeah, well I cooked dinner.
-MrsHoppy: Yeah, and I did the dishes
-MrHoppy: Yeah, well I mowed the lawn after work
-MrsHoppy: Yeah, well I put away all the towels and sheets
I could go on. And on. And sometimes we do. And it drives me insane but now he's sucked me into the habit and I'm doing it too! I told him that he's created a monster in me. We one-up each other all the time now!

In all seriousness though - I am super lucky. I have friends whose husbands are total bumps on a log and they can't get them to go out. I'd much rather be reigning my husband in than trying to convince him to have a good time! I am so glad he takes interest in our plans and doesn't leave everything up to me. Is it more of a pain sometimes? Absolutely. But at least he cares right? I'm also really lucky that he helps with 1/2 the housework. Again, I have friends whose husbands don't lift a finger at home. This would NOT fly at our house. We split the chores as best we can so we both feel we're doing equal work. Sometimes we bicker about it but so far, it works for us.

What are some quirks of other husbands out there? I hope we aren't the only crazy ones... Happy Tuesday!Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-15024189734135654502011-07-29T15:34:00.000-06:002011-07-29T15:34:52.118-06:00(UN)Fit FridayThis week... Seriously has been chaos. It has tested me and although I've tried hard I feel like I failed.

Monday night we had dinner plans. I had all day class/meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday an hour from home. Which makes that 1:25 minutes from the gym. Thursday I don't know what happened. And this morning I was dog tired...

Nutrition: Aside from our dinner plans Monday we ate pretty well this week. I did go to Sunflower Market and pick up lots of fresh produce. Tuesday and Wednesday were challenging since lunch and snacks were provided at our meeting. I had a cookie in the afternoon on both days. Which isn't like me at all, I was just hungry and didn't have access to my normal healthy snacks.

Fitness: I got up early and ran outside on Monday morning. It was so nice. Quiet and peaceful that early.
I ran outside in the heat on Tuesday. Some of you may think that's crazy but let me tell you. I LOVE Summer and the heat. It doesn't bother me one bit. Just ask MrHoppy who pretty much thinks I'm crazy.
Wednesday was sans workout. I went straight from my meeting to get my hair done and didn't get home until 7:30. Long day and early to bed.
Yesterday I ran outside again in the evening. Heat!
We could not sleep last night. We both tossed and turned all night. When my alarm went off for my morning run I hit snooze and rolled over for more sleep!

The biggest thing I miss on weeks like this are my interval/speed runs and lifting. I need both of those things to keep me feeling my best and to keep my weight down.

Weight: 119 today. Up from last week. All things considered this week I'd say that's not too bad. :)

I am hoping next week will be more normal. Things are crazy busy at work which is both good and bad. I'm working an event tomorrow (planned kind of last minute) so I'm hoping things go smoothly.

Oh and in exciting news: I'm going to have a new niece in December! My sister found out Monday they are having a little girl. To say I'm SO excited would be an understatement...Rachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11285651081186240595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059234516715758182.post-88688417055254262042011-07-26T20:40:00.000-06:002011-07-26T20:40:59.751-06:00The 4th - Better Late Than Never! It's been tradition for the last 4 years to head to Nebraska for the 4th of July to visit some dear friends of ours. L moved to Colorado when her fiance landed a job here. They are both originally from Nebraska and L was lucky enough to grow up on a private lake there. To say that the set up is amazing would be an understatement.

4 years ago they moved back to Nebraska for another job opportunity and to be close to their families. So the Hoppys made it tradition to visit them every year on the 4th! We miss them but each year it's like not a day has passed.

Now she and M are married, they have a daughter and another baby on the way. I miss her so much but am thankful we get to see each other even with our busy schedules.

It doesn't hurt that her parents are amazing, welcoming people. They let us stay at their house, provide us with food and drinks for as long as we can stay. She has a brother and sister that are both fun and amazing, and both married fun and amazing spouses! It's a big, loud, rowdy and fun loving group. We may or may not have sang the "America" song from Team America a time or two. Or 10. And we may have drank our weight in beer over the 3 nights we stayed. And then some!

The trip went way too fast.
